Time to get back into it!

It is time to start thinking about shooting again. Get those visions of sugar plums out of your head and start loading ammo.

We have a match tentatively scheduled for January 10th, and if the weather is cooperative we will be hosting one. Stay tuned for details.

Merry Christmas!

To All My Democratic Friends:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wish.

To My Republican Friends:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ 2010.

2010 Schedule

Pistol Committee Schedule for 2010

USPSA Matches Will be 2nd Sunday of the month January through November like they have been for the past several years with the exception of May, which we will move to Saturday the 8th to avoid Mother’s Day. We generally close all ranges for these, although this year we did not close the rifle range in September for the hunters who were preparing for deer season.

1/10, 2/14, 3/14, 4/11, 5/8, 6/13, 8/8, 9/12, 10/10, 11/14

Fun Shoots Will be 4th Saturday of the month January through October like previous years. We do not close the rifle range for these.

1/23, 2/27, 3/27, 4/24, 5/22, 6/26, 7/24, 8/28, 9/25, 10/23

Steel Challenges

1/31, 10/31

July 8th (Thursday) – 12th (Sunday) This is the big one that replaces the Summer Blast and should be a nice money maker this year. Shooters from around the country are getting used to us having a big match the weekend after July 4th and we should remain consistent to encourage them to come. We will ask to close the pistol and rifle ranges all 4 days, and the trap fields Friday evening after about 5:00pm and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Range Brass Un-availability

The Ikes Jr's program is no longer in the business of gathering and selling range brass from the club. As their sole retail outlet, my closet is empty, and I am out of business as well.

Sorry to be the bearer of sad news. Guess we need to start picking up after ourselves again...

Ammo availability

Ammo seems to be more available every day. Yesterday I was at Dick's and they were fully stocked. A little expensive, but it was the first ime I've seen a stocked ammo dept. in over a year. The last time I was at Walmart (which I'm boycotting by the way) they were looking much better too.

Today I got an email from Natchez Shooters Supply and the price of 223 went down again! Again still expensive, but it is dropping. They're best deal: http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=xn223a&lsrc=NZ&src=BE464

The way I see it manufacturers use the primers to make more profitable ammo first. Once the ammo market is doing well again we will be able to get primers. Let's hope this is true.

Do Ben and Louis a favor....

Email USPSA President Mike Voight president@uspsa.org Alan Meek area8ad@gmail.com and Junior Coordinator Mike McCarter at nomikes@hotmail.com and ask them why if USPSA is so interested in supporting Junior shooters they consistently host Nationals during the school year?

In Front Sight every issue they do lip service to how important Juniors are to this sport, and how they are the future, but then almost every year they schedule Nationals in September or October after the kids are back to school.

As far as I know Nationals haven't been scheduled for 2010 yet, so theoretically we could make a difference.
