Funshoot fun

Yesterday's shoot went well, and I think a good time was had by all, I certainly enjoyed it and the company. Thanks for a good day.

I did, however, forget my camera. Anyone got pics or videos? If so send 'em off to me at iwlafunshoot1@comcast.net , and I'll post 'em.

I should have scores done this evening

Sign up for the Steel Challange at Saturday's Funshoot

See Howard's post below, 'portant stuff there.

And when you are signing up for the Challange, you can shoot a total of 8 pits, for around 130 rounds, with one of the stages from the upcoming Steel Challange match, and run by Kirk, the SC match director.
This shoot is open to pistol caliber carbines, 22lr standard velocity included.
Bring on your neat and weird toys (standard velocity pistol caliber only please), I know there will be at least one supressor, and one laser sight floating around.

Please review the safety rules, http://yorkpistol.blogspot.com/2009/03/range-safety.html

Cost is $15 for majors and $5 for minors. Setup at 8:30, shooting by 10:00ish.

I promise impossible to understand stage descriptions and scoesheets.

PA state steel challenge

We have decided to waive the late fee for the PA state steel challenge, however shooters whose applications were received after 6/21 will not be getting a match t-shirt. Sorry we had to get them ordered. We did order a few extras which we will be selling at the match.

Registration for that match is progressing nicely and Saturday am and pm slots are just about full. If you're procrastinating you better stop it and send in your app right away.

Anybody get wet this weekend?

The match formally known as A8MGC is now over and it was a great time even though the weather wasn't so wonderful.

The York guys really came through and helped Dean pull off a successful match. Thanks guys.

Now it's back to business. There is a fun shoot at the club Saturday. I'm sure Gary will post more info on that here in the next day or two.

We are also getting ready for the PA state steel challenge at our club July 10-12. Applications are pouring in and it looks like sponsorship is too. If you haven't signed up yet you should do it soon.

June funshoot

June's funshoot is shaping up to be a lot of fun, a couple of special things are in store for your shooting pleasure.

First and most notably, I have arranged, at great trouble and expense, to have a stage from the upcoming Pa State Steel Challenge Match setup at the funshoot. As you all know, the Steel Challenge match is happening the 2nd weekend in July at our club, and every one should plan to attend. This stage will be an exact copy of a Steel Challenge Stage, and your squad will be run just as a squad will be run in July, so you can see what all the fuss is about. It will be RO'ed by none other than our own Super Kirk, the Match Director of the Steel Challenge Match. He will be able to answer all questions, and sign you up on the spot.

Secondly, I am opening up this month's funshoot to pistol caliber carbines. They will run the course just as the pistols will, which presents some interesting targeting problems to solve.

Third, the bowling pin table will be back, I know you love it.

And fourth, I have lots of leftover stuff from previous shoots, so food of the month may be a bit of a buffet.

More details next week, when we get back from the Topton multigun thing, where we will be having more fun with guns than you can imagine.

In the meantime, dust off your firearms, and review our range safety rules, as infractions will be dealt with swiftly and severely. Follow this link http://yorkpistol.blogspot.com/2009/03/range-safety.html

Izaak Walton dinner

The Izaak Walton is having a dinner at Hosses steahouse in York on Thursday, June 25th for a fundraiser. I think the pistol committee and friends should make a strong showing. Please join me.

Here's how this works: I have some tickets. Ask me and I'll give you one. Then we all eat dinner at Hosses. I suggest the pistol guys wear their shirts and meet at 6:30pm. When we pay we present our ticket and the club gets 20% of our total.

We all get to go to dinner together and the club benefits. I think it's a win-win. Mark that date on your calendar please.

RO class

Our RO level 1 class next Saturday and Sunday (June 6th and 7th) still has room for a couple more. It will begin at 8:30 Saturday morning and take most of the day , and then be concluded Sunday morning. Cost is $50. It is rare to have this opportunity so close to home if you have some time available this weekend you should consider it. Anyone who is a member of USPSA can take the class, and it wil help shooters of any experience level to understand the rules and make them a better, safer shooter, as well as qualified to help more at matches big and small.
