Seems there was a perfect score.... I can't let that happen again...... If you are in the loop, you know what happened, if you are not, then you should join us!

March Funshoot

Yep, it's that time again. This Saturday the 27th is our monthly Funshoot. This month I am going to try and make up for that pitiful excuse for a Funshoot I put on last month (thanks again to those what showed, it was still fun). Weather.com says sunny and 65 for the day, and I am getting out all the toys; clays, bowling pins, paper, lots and lots of steel and that new terror we have on hand, the Texas Star. Round count will be under 100. We will be returning to our summer schedule as posted here http://yorkiwlaipsc.org/FunShoot.htm.
Remember our safety rules http://yorkpistol.blogspot.com/2009/03/range-safety.html.
See you on the range.

USPSA Schedule

We had to cancel the March match because of rain, so we diecided that we would have the special classifier match in May. In April we're going to have a 5 stage pistol match and a 4 stage rifle match. You may shoot either or both. Expect the invite for that around 4/3.

Rust

Take steel and add rain, like we did today, and what you will get is rust. But we also got a lot of rust off of ourselves. 20 shooters braved the elements today and shot until they were out of ammo. We learned a lot, had a good time and are better for it. Here's Greg ROing Kirk. These are 2 of my faithful crew members. Gary is enjoying his suppressed 9mm AR. He is the #2 man on the York Izaak Walton Pistol Committee and he heads up the Fun Shoots. Here's the surprise I promised which debuted on pit 4. Some of you know it as the Texas Star. Today Mike, the guy in the red in this picture called it the "Bastard Wheel". I think I like that better.

Monthly USPSA match cancelled....kind of

While the weather is not nice, in fact flooding is possible, and we decided to cancel our monthly USPSA match we are very hard-headed people. We have set up 4 pits worth of steel and we're going to shoot anyway. Come play if you can. Festivities start at noon. Here's Dave W. Jim S. and John Z. enjoying the weather and lugging steel around simultaneously. This is most of my dedicated set up crew. Naturally I was taking the picture, and Greg and Gary were out working on a secret project. Wait until you see the surprise they have in store for you tomorrow.
The creek is always our nemesis when it rains a lot like this. Occassional flooding is part of the program at York. This is the level at 2:00pm today. It is still rising. Wish us luck.

The weather?

What will do if it rains? That's what everyone wants to know.

First, we will proceed with the preparations for the match and see what happens. The closer it gets to match day the more accurate the forecast becomes.

Next, we see if we can get set up done tomorrow. We're still planning on set up at 11:00am Saturday, but we're not masochists. If the rain precludes us from doing the set up in an efficient manner than the match is off. But, we won't give up easily. It is even possible to drop a stage or two to get something, which is better than nothing, done Sunday if things are questionable.

Lastly, at some point we will have to make a decision. We may make it late tonight, or sometime tomorrow morning. Either way that decision will be posted here as soon as possible.

So, check back here often to see what the status is. I will keep you informed.

Now the important part: No matter what you have heard or read here CHECK THIS SITE AGAIN BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE SUNDAY MORNING. The final decision may be made as late as 3:00am Sunday morning when I get home from work, but I hope to see you Sunday morning and do some shooting, H-

Pleasant surprise!

Greg Jordan and I went to the range today to clean up the remaining snow in the back pits and it went exceedingly well! So much so that we will be able to do 3 nice long courses with an ample amount of steel in the back pits Sunday. We still had about 6 inches of snow on those ranges and it had condensed down to almost ice, but Greg borrowed his father's skid steer and he was able to scoop it up without disturbing the stone beneath. Is he incredibly good at everything? The bonus was that the ground underneath is not frozen so we can pound nails in to hold down walls etc. We even used the machine to move the steel into it's general locations. I left the club with a totally differnt view of the match. I knew we would have one, but now I know it will be a QUALITY one!

Be sure to thank Greg when you see him. We couldn't have done it without him.

Also, don't forget that we set the clocks forward one hour Saturday night. If you show up late because you're a goofball I'm going to point it out at the match briefing.
