Long Range Egg Shoot Sunday, June 6th Canceled

This has been canceled.  Sorry, we'll try again later.

On Sunday, February 2nd we will be hosting a Long Range Egg Shoot.  This is the one on the rifle range where you use a 22lr to shoot egg size, and shaped steel at 50. 75, 100 and 125 yards from the benches.  Do not underestimate these targets.  The eggs are about 2" tall.  We've had people see how hard this is and quit.  But if you have a decent 22lr and know your dope this is really fun, quick and requires some skill.  It's a perfect starter sport for those wanting to shoot 22lr PRS and good practice for those who do.

When you sign up at yorksignup@gmail.com you will be assigned a specific time sometime after 9:00 am and you will be expected to be there 20 minutes before your start time to prep your gear, and check in.  You will get your time in the reply to your sign up email.  The match fee is $20.  At your designated time you will shoot 50 yards.  A few minutes later you will shoot 75 yards, and so on.  So theoretically you may be on the range for as little as 30 minutes.  Of course you're welcome to come earlier, and stay as long as you want to watch, but if it is cold you won't have to suffer as long.  That being said we will need spotters so everyone can't just shoot and scoot.  Plan on helping a little if you don't mind.

Everyone has a scheduled time so you being a no show or late has no remedy and will be greatly frowned upon.

I have a two page document with some tips for beginners that may be of interest to you.  If you'd like a copy of that, and/or you'd like to sign up email me at yorksignup@gmail.com

May 22nd Fun Shoot

Saturday, March 27th we will be hosting our first Fun Shoot of the year.

There will be 5 stages of steel for your enjoyment.  The set up will be such that you can shoot as much or as little ammunition as you like.  We know it's hard to come by these days and everyone does not have a huge stockpile.  This will also be a very 22lr friendly event.  We'll have some knock down steel (set very light), some hanging steel, and a couple steel challenge stages (which is new to fun shoots).

This is a laid back event and you can do just about anything you like as long as you're safe.  You will not need a holster.  You may use one if you like.  We don't use timers, but you can if you like.  You can shoot any standard caliber handgun or carbine (no magnums or anything faster than 1300 fps).  Shotguns are fine to use with low brass 7.5 or 8 shot.  22lr is OK.  .300 BLK subsonic is ok.  You can switch guns between stages,   Two or more people can shoot as a team.  Just be safe.  Kids and new shooters are welcome.

All guns should be unloaded before entering the club grounds.  Handguns will be carried without any magazine inserted in a holster, bag or case.  Long guns will have chamber flags (which we have for sale) and in a cart, case or on a sling.  Eye and ear protection is mandatory, at all times, even for spectators (which are welcome).

The entry fee is $20 for 18 and over.  $5 for under 18.  There is no advance sign up.  Just be there before 8:30 am if you want to shoot (after 8:30 if you want to be a spectator).  We will do a match briefing at 8:45 and be shooting by 9:00 am.

To sign up for this match email us at  yorksignup@gmail.com with your name, division, and squad requests.  You should receive a confirmation within a day or two. Don't take too long to sign up.  We do have a maximum number of shooters we will take for each of our matches and we do expect the matches to fill quickly.  Conversely, don't sign up if you don't intend to shoot, and if something comes up and you're not going to make it please let us know as soon as possible.  The Thursday before the match at midnight is the cut off for backing out without penalty.  People who persist in not showing up after signing up will not be invited back.  We want to benefit as many shooters as possible this season.
