Long Range Egg Shoot, Sunday Dec 10th

Long Range Egg Shoot, Sunday Dec 10th

CANCELED due to lack of interest.

On Sunday December 10th we will be hosting a Long Range Egg Shoot.  This is the one on the rifle range where you use a 22lr to shoot egg size and shaped steel at 50. 75, 100 and 125 yards from the benches.  Do not underestimate these targets.  The eggs are about 2" tall.  If you have a decent 22lr and know your dope this is really fun, quick and requires some skill.  It's a perfect starter sport for those wanting to shoot 22lr PRS and good practice for those who do.

When you sign up at mail@dvetter.com you will be assigned a specific time sometime after 9:00 am and you will be expected to be there 20 minutes before your start time to prep your gear and check in. You will get your time in the reply to your sign up email.  The match fee is $20.  At your designated time you will shoot 50 yards.  A few minutes later you will shoot 75 yards, and so on.  So theoretically you may be on the range for as little as 30 minutes.  Of course you're welcome to come earlier, and stay as long as you want to watch, but if it is cold you won't have to suffer as long.  That being said we will need spotters so everyone can't just shoot and scoot.  Plan on helping a little if you don't mind.

Everyone has a scheduled time so you being a no show or late has no remedy and will be greatly frowned upon.

I have a two page document with some tips for beginners that may be of interest to you.  If you'd like a copy of that, and/or you'd like to sign up email me at mail@dvetter.com

Wednesday, November 8, 2023

On Sunday, November 26th we will be having a back pits egg shoot at 9:00am

- This is a 22lr only shoot where you will shoot at egg sized and shaped steel targets with either a rifle 10, 15, 20 and 25 yards, or a pistol at 7, 9, 11, and 13 yards.
- There will be 10 eggs at each distance and you get 10 rounds to hit them with.
- This is untimed and shot from the standing unsupported position. The entry fee is $20 for adults, $5 for under 18.
- You may shoot twice if you want to shoot both rifle and pistol or 2 different divisions. (for two entry fees of course)
- Discounts will apply to pistol committee members who have earned them.
- There are no payouts for this match but we do keep score.

 Divisions are:
- Red dot rifle
- Iron sighted rifle
- Magnified scope rifle
- Red dot pistol
- Iron sighted pistol
- Magnified scope pistol

Pre-regsistration is required.  To sign up email us at mail@dvetter.com with your name, division(s) and squad requests.

On Sunday the schedule works like this:
- 8:00 if you want to help set up
- 8:30 at the latest to pay
- 8:45 for match briefing
- 9:00 we're shooting
We should be done by 11:00 AM or so

No magnums or hyper velocity. Think 1300 fps max.

November FunShoot double header

Next up York IWLA brings you a double header!

On Saturday, November 4th we will be hosting our monthly FunShoot, sign in starts at 8am, first shots around 9am.
Fee is $20, under 18 is free.
Then, that evening, we will be hosting our fall NIGHT FUNSHOOT! We will be shooting the same courses of fire, but in the dark! This is an absolute riot! There will be some area lighting to get around, but the steel targets will not be illuminated, you must bring your own lights or night vision. Keep in mind headlights can be used on the firing line only, not walking around with them.
This time we will be allowing LIMITED shotgun, please contact us for further info on that one.
Fee is $20, under 18 is free.
Usual boilerplate follows:
We welcome all shooters, regardless of skill or age, as long as you can safely handle your firearm.
We will have stages of steel, USPSA and accuracy, close targets and far away ones too, and of course, a food of the month.
This is intended to be a casual, untimed event, with the emphasis of SAFETY; No need to rush things.
Open to pistols, PCC and shotguns, multigun is allowed on most stages. Long guns must be flagged, and handguns must be holstered or bagged when not on the line.

No Plate League picnic this year......

I know I have told several of you I would do one. I kept pushing it off and now I just can't swing it with some recent storm damage to my property and all my vehicles being damaged in the recent storm.

I wasn't planning on doing one this year until several people inquired and half heartedly agreed. My apologies for not getting it done. I just cant swing it with everything on my plate right now.

  Sincerely,

       Lou Levy

2023 Final Plate League Results

I want to thank everyone for coming out. I had a lot of fun watching everyone progress with their skills. I was a good opportunity to bring guns out you wouldn't normally shoot. There was also a bunch of , "shooting the $hit", as well ;-). Thanks also for everyone that pitched in and helped move things along by running timers, scoring, and resetting racks.

I'm going to have an informal tuesday evening cookout/pizza night at my house for participants. Date TBD, free for anyone who shot more than 10 trips, anyone else who shot less than 10 trips, it will be $10 if you'd like to join in. Food and drinks provided by the league proceeds(BYO-alcohol)
