November 8th Steel Challenge

On Sunday, November 8th we will be hosting a Steel Challenge match. We will shoot 6-7 stgaes depending on the weather and turnout, and that generally requires 175-200 rounds or more. The entry for 1 gun will be $20, and for an additional $15 you can shoot a second gun also. You may not shoot more than 2 guns. There will be many different divisions: Limited CF, Open CF, Revolver Iron CF, Revolver Scoped CF, Production CF, Iron RF, Scoped RF, Iron RF Revolver, Scoped RF Revolver, Iron CF Carbine, Scoped CF Carbine, Iron RF Carbine, and Scoped RF Carbine. Just remember that all ammo must be 150pf or less, for safety and to preserve our steel.

Set up will begin at 8:00am, and we'll need some help. Registration will be from 8:30 - 9:30. Match briefing will be at 9:45 and we will begin shooting at 10:00am.

To sign up for this match email yorksignup@gmail.com and just give us your name and how many guns you wish to shoot, as well as any squad requests.

Anaconda for sale

A friend is selling a Colt Anaconda 44 magnum. This gun has a 8 inch barrel and is in great shape. A very accurate handcannon. I would buy it myself but I already own 2 of them. He is asking $800 which I think is pretty fair. If you're interested email me and I will get you in contact with him.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

Sorry kids, been wicked busy and haven't posted.

Saturday's funshoot was a resounding success and reward for the dozen or so of us who showed up. The weather gods smiled, and even gave us a bit of sunshine for a while, made it easier to see the baby pumpkins for food of the month... . And I kid you not, within a half hour of clearing the range, the skys opened up!

I would like to thank you all for a good year. This year was by far the most successful in terms of attendance and shooter support. We attracted more new shooters than ever before, and the quality of all our family impresses me still, not only in handgunmanship (is that a word?), as several of us a have added USPSA to their sport list, but also as a people. It has been a joy to see the overall proficiency increase, as well as the fellowship that has developed amongst our gang. It is good.

Plans are already in the works for next year. Stages, events and yes, even some competitive ideas are floating about. The team trophy shoot should be bigger, better and more exciting, if I can pull it off.
If any of you have ideas of things you want to see or do, drop me a line at iwlafunshoot1@comcast.net.

See you in January. Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas to all.

P.S. Oct. scores will be posted in a few days, I know a few of you are itchin',....Ian,....

Satudays funshoot

Here's the deal.

The weather is looking real questionable, so I am setting up a shoot that can be all weather. I will be at the range by 8:30am Saturday. By 9:00am, we will, as a group, decide to shoot or not to shoot, and then what to shoot. If the weather clears, we're good. If it's pouring, and you want to shoot, we'll set something up and you can have at it, I'll watch from the stat shack.

No fret, if I am the only one there by 9:00am, that's ok too, I only live 15 minutes from the range, and I really don't even have to get out of my car, so don't feel obligated to show, if you are a fair weather shooter.

It's happened before, and the weather Gods have smiled. Of course, they have frowned too....

Hope it's sunny in the hundred acre wood

And now for something completely usual

The shoot formerly known as the Sept Funshoot, will be held next Saturday Oct 24th. While I haven't done the full design as yet, I can tell you it will be under 100 rounds, 8 or 9 mini stages, will have many of the things you see and love each month, and will introduce a new food of the month! Best of all, there will be a pistol caliber carbine option this month!
No advance registration, just show up.
This is the last run for the year, so lets go out in style.

As a reminder, and to those of you new to us, check out our range rules, http://yorkpistol.blogspot.com/2009/03/range-safety.html

Make sure to check out the sidebar to the right and down for details on the funshoot.
