Next year's schedule

We are hashing out the details of next year's schedule and there are a lot of considerations.  We do a lot of different kinds of shoots at York.  The MASC, the PASSC, USPSA matches, Fun Shoots, Steel Challenges, Rifle and Shotgun matches, Special Classifiers, and Team 3 gun matches.  The difficulty is making them all fit into the schedule. We are prioritizing now, and some of them might be dropped or at least scaled back.

What do you as a shooter want to see at York next year?  What do you not care about?  Please comment.

3-gun, uspsa matches

in addition to USPSA ... 3-gun or multigun matches, rifle, & shotgun matches. I enjoy the 1/2 day pistol followed by the short rifle or shotgun match format.

I participate in funshoots,USPSA, and Steel Challenge. If this were a business, I would look for the best club return for our time invested. The funshoots bring new players to USPSA. Steel brings a whole different interest group. Need to look at the data in order to make an intelligent decision for our future.

uspsa...and i'd love to see the "york 300"...6 stages, 50 rounds each. i don't think i've ever heard anyone complain that a stage or a match had too many shots (revo shooters don't count, of course).

The shoots I and my friends like the most are the fun shoots and the steel challenge shoots. I believe these shoots bring in the most new shooters to the club and get the most people interested. Many people are intimidated by the uspsa shoots and prefer "lower stress" shooting events.

Fun shoots and steel challenge is what brings me (and my buddies) out to your range.

Have to agree with MStephens "in addition to USPSA ... 3-gun or multigun matches, rifle, & shotgun matches. I enjoy the 1/2 day pistol followed by the short rifle or shotgun match format."

I've never shot a fun shoot. I shoot USPSA, Rifle, Shotgun and Steel. From what I understand, the Fun Shoots are a way to get people into USPSA and multi gun stuff. I always look forward to Team York's monthly matches no matter what they put on. This was my first year at the York monthly matches and I could not be more pleased. Thank you for a great year of shooting and look forward to the 2012 matches.

USPSA and Steel Challenge

Started this summer with Funshoots, with some encouragement tried Steel Challenge, even ended the season with a USPSA match. USPSA can be a bit overwhelming for a rookie shooter....
Had a great time at all three types of events, the expeirenced shooters where more than helpful at all the events, just goes to show the quality people you have attending the events. As a club we need to have shooting opportunities for all levels of shooters. New people are the future of our sport.
I would love to see us improve the conditions at the back pits damaged from the flooding. Maybe some gravel over the muddy areas where we walk. Some permanent shelters over the waiting areas at each pit with built in benches for bags & reloading mags. It is tough to have time for improvements and upgrades with such a busy shooting match schedule, especially when you are trying to do it with volunteer labor.
You guys run a top notch organization, so I have faith whatever decisions made will be good for the organization as a whole.....

Fun shoots and steel chalenge shoots are what I enjoy comming to. USPSA doesn't interest me, but glad you hold those shoots as well so that every level of shooter can enjoy.

3gun or multigun is #1. You can get a ton of pistol, rifle and shotgun fun with pretty easy reset (steel and clay) plus scoring is simple. I will likely shoot 22lr carbine at steel challenege matches if we have them and I think setup/scoring is pretty simple for these. York does have in my opinion some of the best USPSA matches in the area, but I would prefer to shoot multi-gun.

How many of the participants are club members? Priority should be given to those shoots with the highest club participation. Heck shoots are the only way club members can get back to the pits.

@anonymous: Firstly, anonymous commentors are welcome, but do not carry as much weight as those who give their names.

Secondly, and more importantly: Any member has the ability to earn the use of the back pits at other times. They need to become part of the pistol committee, do some work, and learn what is and is not allowed i.e. our props, safety, etc. The same as with the automatic traps or 3D animals. Working for a committee has it's perks, but nothing is free.

Please contact me to get more involved.

I shoot at York regularly and prefer the Steel Challenge type of matches. Falling steel matches would be even better.
