January 5th Long Range Egg Shoot

On Sunday, January 5th we will be hosting a Long Range Egg Shoot.  This is the one on the rifle range where you use a 22lr to shoot egg size, and shaped steel at 50. 75, 100 and 125 yards from the benches.

This year when you will sign up for a specific time, between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm and you will be expected to be there 20 minutes before your start time to prep your gear, and check in.  At your designated time you will shoot 50 yards.  5 minutes later you will shoot 75 yards, and so on.  So theoretically you may be on the range for as little as 40 minutes.  Of course you're welcome to come earlier, and stay as long as you want to watch, but if it is cold you won't have to suffer as long.  That being said we will need spotters so everyone can't just shoot and scoot.  Plan on helping a little if you don't mind.

If the weather is extremely cold or treacherous I will cancel the match well ahead of time, but because everyone has a scheduled time being a no show or late has no remedy and will be frowned upon.

I have a two page document with some tips for beginners that may be of interest to you.  If you'd like a copy of that, and/or you'd like to sign up email me at yorksignup@gmail.com

2020 Invictus Practical Mid-Atlantic Multi-Gun Championship

June 13-14, 2020

This match is unique in the world of major outlaw 3 gun matches in several respects;

1. You can shoot the whole match in one day.

2. Prizes are all checks.  This means you don't have to stick around for a prize table.  If you shoot on Saturday you can go home Saturday night.

3. The prizes are generous.  We pay out 50% of the gross.  That is a lot of money.  Over $12,000 last year.

4. We give prizes way down the list in Tac Ops.  By using a modified Lewis class payout scheme if you pick your class correctly and shoot to the best of your ability you have a chance to win hundreds of dollars even if you are way towards the bottom.

5. We're about as far north and east as any major 3 gun.  Only Topton's team 3 gun is farther north or east, and it's a great match but it's not for individuals.  That's why we draw a lot of shooters from the Mid-Atlantic states, the northeast and Canada on a regular basis.

This 7 stage match will fill up quickly.  Do not hesitate to sign up if you want your choice of days.

Shooters registered before 4/1/20 get a t-shirt included in their entry fee.
$125 is very reasonable for a major match.

Registration via Practiscore will open on Jan. 12, 2020

Falling Steel Sunday 10/13

On Sunday, October 13th we will be hosting the PA State Falling Steel Championships.  This is an opportunity to shoot a lot of steel really fast.   We plan on having 7 stages with around 200 pieces of steel.  What makes our Falling Steel matches different from the others is that we allow standard capacity magazines, shotguns, pistol caliber carbines, and even two person teams!  You can even shoot twice in the same same time slot and there are two time slots.  This match will cap out at 84 shooters per time slot so do not hesitate to get your application in the mail, or use the online option.

If you shoot our Fun Shoots, USPSA, 3 Gun, or steel either at our club or elsewhere you are going to love this match.  It's also so simple that fairly new shooters will do well too.

At $40 it is a bargain, and this year we will experiment with some small payouts to divisions with three or more shooters in them.  This is interesting as there are 22 divisions for you to choose from when you consider the team option.

The application is at the following link -  Falling Steel Application - and the rules and explanations of the different divisions is part of the application.

We will only take pre-registration.  Be sure to get signed up before 10/9 to ensure getting to shoot with the people you want to shoot with.  Don't mail anything after the 7th.   We will continue to take electronic sign up and patment by paypal until the 9th.

There are slots available for the pm at this time.

Long range egg shoot results

Nice weather, and a small crowd.  We were done in a jiffy and Rob Burkindine had just enough time to establish complete dominance.  His 9 hits at 125 were very impressive.  It is interesting that today bolt action rifles had no advantage over semi autos.  Thanks to all for coming out.

Long Range Egg Shoot Saturday, September 7th

On Saturday September 7th we will host a long range egg shoot.  Eggs are steel targets the size of large chicken eggs.  There will be 10 eggs for each shooter at 50, 75, 100 and 125 yards.  Oh, you think that's not long range?  Well it is when you're using a 22 long rifle.  That is the only caliber acceptable.

At each distance there will also be a sighter plate.  When it's your turn you will be allowed 15 rounds to shoot at the eggs and/or the sighter plate.   Each hit on an egg is worth 5 points.  Each round not used is worth 1 point.  Spare rounds at one distance may not be used at other distances.

You may use any type of 22lr rifle, and it may be scoped.  You will also be allowed to shoot any position including from the bench with bags or rests.

Cost is $20.  If you have earned pistol committee credits they may be applied for discount.

To sign up please email yorksignup@gmail.com with your name so we know how many people to expect.  We will limit the match to 40 shooters so we should be done by noon.

On match day please be at the rifle range by 8:30 to pay up and get ready.   8:15 if you want to help set up.

September 8th 3 Gun Match Sponsored by IWI

We will be hosting this month's 3 Gun Match sponsored by IWI, September 8th.  It will be 6 stages and all 3 guns will be used.  We will be using slugs, rifle and shotgun slings this match, and we do expect to use most of, if not all, of the 200 yards available on the rifle range.  The match fee will be $30.

The match day schedule is as follows:

7:00 finish set up (help is always appreciated)
8:00 registration begins
8:30 registration ends (anyone arriving after 8:30 is a spectator)
8:45 mandatory match briefing
9:00 shooting begins

To sign up for this match email us at yorksignup@gmail.com with your name, division, and squad requests.  You should receive a confirmation within a day or two.

Don't take too long to sign up.  We do have a maximum number of shooters we will take for each of our matches and we do expect the matches to fill quickly.  Conversely, don't sign up if you don't intend to shoot, and if something comes up and you're not going to make it please let us know as soon as possible.  The Thursday before the match at midnight is the cut off for backing out without penalty.  People who persist in not showing up after signing up will not be invited back.  We want to benefit as many shooters as possible this season.

Thanks
Chris Webb

York's August 11th 3 Gun Match Sponsored by FM Products

We will be hosting this month's 3 Gun Match, August 11th.  It will be 6 stages and all 3 guns will be used.  We could be using slugs, rifle and shotgun slings this match, and we do expect to use most of, if not all, of the 200 yards available on the rifle range.  The match fee will be $30.

The match day schedule is as follows:

7:00 finish set up (help is always appreciated)
8:00 registration begins
8:30 registration ends (anyone arriving after 8:30 is a spectator)
8:45 mandatory match briefing
9:00 shooting begins

To sign up for this match email us at
yorksignup@gmail.com with your name, division, and squad requests.

Thanks
Chris Webb

Saturday, August 3rd Falling Steel

On Saturday, August 3rd, we will be hosting another Falling Steel match.  This match will consist of 4 stages of steel targets that must fall to score.  Each stage will have 25-35 targets and the shooter, or shooters, will have 60 seconds to knock down all that they can.  I say shooters, because it is possible to shoot this as a two person team, with both shooters attacking the same array simultaneously this month.  We will also allow shotguns (with prior approval) this month.

The cost is $20 for an individual, and the same for a two person team, so that's only $10 per person.

We've done these type of falling steel matches for a couple of years now and they are fast and fun.  There is no movement allowed and no holsters.  A minimal amount of equipment is required.  To increase your speed and have even more fun find a partner and shoot as a team.  It is a crazy good time.

This is a great match to shoot with your kid, spouse, or non-competitive shooter as a teammate, but it's fun for singles too.  There won't be any type of payout so what difference does it make?  Just be safe and have a good time.  That's how and why we keep the entry fee low.

We have 2 new divisions for this match.  TO Shooter's Choice and Open Shooter's Choice.  These divisions allow you to pick which type of firearm you (and your teammate if applicable) shoot on each stage.  Maybe a shotgun or two is better on one stage, where a PCC is better on another.  Mix and match til your heart's content.

Divisions include:

Stock Auto (10 Rounds)
Stock Auto 140 (140 mm mags, so up to 17-24 for most pistols)
Open Auto (red dots and 10 rounds)
Open auto 170 (red dots and 170mm mags so up to 31 +/- rounds with some pistols.
Stock Revolver (6 rounds and iron sights)
Open Revolver (unlimited rounds and red dots permitted)
PCC (Pistol caliber carbine, and carbine style "pistols" too)
Limited shotgun (with prior approval only)
Open Shotgun (with prior approval only)
TO Shooter's Choice (with prior approval only)
Open Shooter's Choice (with prior approval only)

All of these divisions may be shot individually or as a two man team.  Let me know when signing up and if shooting as a team let me know who your partner is.

If you have any questions or to sign up please email yorksignup@gmail.com

Please plan on being at the club not later than 8:15 to pay and register.  Mandatory match briefing will be at 8;45 am and we will be shooting 9:00 at the latest.

July FunShoot

This Saturday, July 27th  we will be hosting our monthly FunShoot.
We will present you with 6-7 stages of 20-30 falling steel targets each.
Setup will be this Friday (the 26th) at 5pm. Remember, the quality of the event depends on setup turnout.

This month we are doing a little something special, to honor (humor) an old friend of the FunShoot, the "Makarov Challange!". Show up with your Makarov in 9X18 and squad together to shoot for score!

I'm also thinking of newtons......

Fee will be $20 for adults, $5 for anyone under 18.
Signup by 8:15, shooting at 9ish.

Boilerplate follows:

Firearm choice will be standard pistol caliber handgun, standard pistol caliber carbine, or shotgun (7 1/2 lead shot or smaller). You may bring all 3 types to the shoot, and you can change the choice of guns on different stages, but only two guns max per stage.
Yes, .22's and  .300 BO subsonic are acceptable.

York is a cold range. Unloaded firearms are carried around the range holstered, boxed, bagged, slung, carted or in a sock. Long guns require a chamber flag, and they will be for sale.

Bring family and friends, we are very new shooter and kid friendly. Spectators are welcome!

Everyone on the range MUST WEAR EYE PROTECTION WITH SIDE SHIELDS. We will be shooting steel, and it creates little flying bits of metal that can hit you on occasion. There will be eye protection for sale.

cheers

gary
