Consider changing parties. Most of you belong to one of the the two major parties. Maybe it's time we change that.
For years the Republican party has been the party that best defended the second amendment. But really what have they done for us? They really let us down by running a candidate this election that could not win against the most verbally anti-gun presidential candidate in history. Honestly, do you think that McCain ever had a chance? He couldn't even win the primary 8 years ago against W. Now he's like a million years old, too liberal for most Republicans, and not a great speaker. If that's the best the Republicans can do it's not good enough.
The Democrats have always been portrayed as anti second amendment, and there is a lot of truth to that. Most of the major anti-gun legislation at Federal, as well as state, and local levels is pushed by the Democrats.
We need to make our displeasure known and I think the way to do it is to change our political affiliations. By seceding from our current party we can prove to them that we aren't going to suport anyone who can't help our agenda. If enough of us leave they will have to change and beg us to come back.
I believe that our government at all levels is too big, too intrusive, too corrupt, and too expensive. Neither of the two major parties seems willing to fix any of it. If they're not going to be part of the solution than they are part of the problem.
Where do we go? Search political parties on the internet. See what the platforms of different parties are. Make a choice based on what you believe in. For me it is the Libertarian party. Which is the third biggest party and has some elected officials now.
Reregister to vote. It's simple and can be doen online or throught the mail in all states. If you're not registered at all now is the time. Don't wait until the last minute.

Well said.
I believe in the philosophy of the Libertarian party and changed my affiliation to them last month, with a calm, but matter-of-fact letter to the chair of the RNC explaining why.
As a contradiction, I fully support my local R folks, Rep. Ron Miller and Sen. Mike Waugh. They have been very responsive, and their views are very pro second ammendment, personal responsibility and acountability. The point is, be aware of what is happening around you. Reject the party that has failed you federally, but be aware of individuals who are on our side, regardless of their affiliation, and support them. "Think globally, act locally" (sorry)
I'm not sure about you MD folks, you may just be screwed...
