On Saturday, January 1st we will be hosting a Long Range Egg Shoot. This is the one on the rifle range where you use a 22lr to shoot egg size, and shaped steel at 50. 75, 100 and 125 yards from the benches. Do not underestimate these targets. The eggs are about 2" tall. We've had people see how hard this is and quit. But if you have a decent 22lr and know your dope this is really fun, quick and requires some skill. It's a perfect starter sport for those wanting to shoot 22lr PRS and good practice for those who do.

York's November 14th 1/ 2 Gun Match
Thursday, October 28, 2021
Special event! Night Shoot November 6th!
On Saturday, November 6th, I will be running a
night falling steel shoot, using the Nov 7th FunShoot setup in the back pits only. We did
this a few years ago and it was a blast! The cool part is you can shoot it
again Sunday in the daylight for a comparison. The difference is interesting.
There will be some ambient lighting, but the targets will be in the dark, so night vision and flashlights will be needed. Headlights can be employed at the firing line only, no headlights while wandering about the range, they blind folks.
There will be no movement required, and guns will be PCC and handgun, you may bring both, but only one per stage. In deference to our neighbors, suppressors are highly encouraged.
Long guns must be flagged and either cased or carted. We will be doing double safety clearing of handguns which must be holstered or cased.
Setup for this thing will be Saturday afternoon, Nov 6th at 4pm, we will start sign in at 5:30-ish and shooting by 6:15 or so. I expect this event to last about an hour, maybe 90 minutes.
The size of this event will be determined by the setup crew that shows up. Remember we will be piggy backing on the FunShoot, so please help out.
The cost is $20.

October 23rd Fun Shoot is Canceled
We are rearranging the Fun Shoot schedule. We will no longer use 4th Saturdays. We will be using 1st Sundays. So the next Fun Shoot is Sunday, November 7th, and it will be a steel shoot. More details to follow in a week or so.

Carbine Wizardry
Rick Torres will be doing another shooting class at our club on Saturday, October 30th. This is the carbine version of his very popular pistol wizardry class. You can use your .223/5.56 or a pistol caliber carbine. See his website https://torrestrainingsolutions.com/carbine-wizardry for more details or to sign up. Rick is offering a discount for members of York Izaak Walton League.
Rick also does personal instruction and with the current cost of ammunition it is more true than ever that good instruction will shorten your learning curve and save you more in ammo costs than the training costs. Take a class before the weather turns.

August Fun Shoot
The August Fun Shoot, normally scheduled for the 4th weekend was last weekend. It was part of the bigger steel shoot we had on the 22nd. Expect more schedule changes to come. We do plan on having a normal fun shoot on September 25th, but I believe we're going to start doing advance sign up so we can get the squads more even and organized.

August 22nd Results
Thanks to everyone for coming and out and shooting with us. I think we were all disappointed to not shoot the rifle stage, but we will do it sometime in the future. Without further ado here are today's results. It's kind of hard to compare so I'll break it down by stages first, then by totals:
On Sunday, August 22nd we will be hosting a match at York Izaak Walton. I don't really know what to call this match. It has a lot of possibilities and should appeal to just about everyone. I'm going to just give you the details:
- You may enter a 3 man team, 2
man team, or as an individual
- There will be 3 stages
- Match fee is $30 regardless of
how many people you have on your team
- There will be no payouts or
prizes
- One person may sign up twice
maximum (individually or as part of a team(s)
- Each stage will have 60 pieces
of steel
- The time out for each stage
will be 60 seconds
- You may shoot all three stages
with either pistol, pistol caliber carbine, or shotgun.
- Every member of the team must use the same type of gun from the same distance on each stage.
- You may shoot stage 1 with a
rifle (AR15 or similar) if you choose.
- Start position on all stages
will be muzzle touching table or barrel, so holsters are not mandatory
- None of the stages require, or
allow, any running
- We will support as many
divisions as needed
- We will support as many
categories as you can think of
- True 3 gun will be using shotgun
on stage 3, PCC or pistol on stage 2, and rifle on stage 1
- Non-Shotgun 3 gun will be shot
using pistol on stage 3, PCC on stage 2, and rifle on stage 1
- But you can shoot any combo you
want. One popular combo so far is PCC, PCC, and Rifle
- Pre-registration is required
Stage 1 will be on the rifle range. All 60 targets will be 6" x 6" squares. If you're using a rifle(s) you will be shooting from 50 yards, if you're using a PCC you'll be shooting from 25 yards. If you're using a pistol or shotgun you'll be shooting from 10 yards minimum.
Stage 2 will be in pit 5 and the targets will be 8"circles or larger. If you're using a PCC you'll be shooting from 15 yards. If you're using a pistol or shotgun you'll be shooting from 10 yards minimum.
Stage 3 will be in pit 7 and the targets will be mostly US poppers, full size poppers and probably a Texas star. If you're using a PCC, pistol or shotgun you'll be shooting from 10 yards minimum.
Sign up will be at the big shed in the back pits and will be from 8:15 am until 8:30 am. The match briefing will begin at 8:45 and we'll be shooting at 9:00 am. I would bet we will be finished and have everything put away by lunch time if everyone pitches in.
If I think of any other details to pass along or a question gets asked repeatedly I will post information here as the week goes on.

July 24th Fun Shoot
Saturday, July 24th we will be hosting another Fun Shoot.
There will be 5 stages of steel for your enjoyment. The set up will be such that you can shoot as much or as little ammunition as you like. We know it's hard to come by these days and everyone does not have a huge stockpile. T
This is a laid back event and you can do just about anything you like as long as you're safe. You will not need a holster. You may use one if you like. We don't use timers, but you can if you like. You can shoot any standard caliber handgun or carbine (no magnums or anything faster than 1300 fps). Shotguns are fine to use with low brass 7.5 or 8 shot. 22lr is OK. .300 BLK subsonic is ok. You can switch guns between stages, Two or more people can shoot as a team. Just be safe. Kids and new shooters are welcome.
All guns should be unloaded before entering the club grounds. Handguns will be carried without any magazine inserted in a holster, bag or case. Long guns will have chamber flags (which we have for sale) and in a cart, case or on a sling. Eye and ear protection is mandatory, at all times, even for spectators (which are welcome).
The entry fee is $20 for 18 and over. $5 for under 18. There is no advance sign up. Just be there before 8:30 am if you want to shoot (after 8:30 if you want to be a spectator). We will do a match briefing at 8:45 and be shooting by 9:00 am.
July 25th Falling Steel
On Sunday, July 25th we will host another Falling Steel match.
Although it is very similar to the Fun Shoot you must pre-register for a Falling Steel by emailing us at yorksignup@gmail.com and it is both timed and scored.
This match will consist of 5 stages of steel targets that must fall to score. Each stage will have 25-35 targets and the shooter, or shooters, will have 60 seconds to knock down all that they can. I say shooters, because it is possible to shoot this as a two person team, with both shooters attacking the same array simultaneously.
The cost is $20 for an individual, and the same for a two person team, so that's only $10 per person. We've done these type of falling steel matches for a couple of years now and they are fast and fun. There is no movement allowed and no holsters. A minimal amount of equipment is required. To increase your speed and have even more fun find a partner and shoot as a team. It is a crazy good time.
This is a great match to shoot with your kid, spouse, or non-competitive shooter as a teammate, but it's fun for singles too. There won't be any type of payout so what difference does it make? Just be safe and have a good time. That's how and why we keep the entry fee low.
Divisions include:
Stock Auto (10 Rounds)
Stock Auto 140 (140 mm mags, so up to 17-24 for most pistols)
Open Auto (red dots and 10 rounds)
Open auto 170 (red dots and 170mm mags so up to 31 +/- rounds with some pistols.
Stock Revolver (6 rounds and iron sights)
Open Revolver (unlimited rounds and red dots permitted)
PCC (Pistol caliber carbine, and carbine style "pistols" too)
IDC (I don't care, different guns on different stages, and/or not for score)
All of these divisions may be shot individually or as a two man team. Let me know when signing up and if shooting as a team let me know who your partner is.
We will not allow shotguns, more than one gun per stage, or calibers that may damage our steel. You will only shoot each stage once.
If you have any questions or to sign up please email yorksignup@gmail.com Please let me know what division you'll be shooting, if you are shooting with a partner and if there is anyone you would like to be squadded with. If you are hearing impaired let me know. Some squads will have light as well as sound activated start signals.
There will be a maximum number of shooter allowed so don't hesitate to sign up. We will not take walk-ons. Be advised those who sign up and do not show up may not be allowed to sign up for future matches. These fill up and we don't have room for those who are no shows when others are forced to sit out.
Please plan on being at the club not later than 8:15 to pay and register. Mandatory match briefing will be at 8:45 am and we will be shooting 9:00 at the latest.
