It was a long day but fun day. The rain held off for a nice match.   I think everyone liked the roof after all the compliments I received about it.

York's August 3 Gun Match Sponsored by Geissele Automatics

Match is full. Sign up and I will put you on the waiting list. We normally get one or two cancellations.

We will be hosting this month's 3 Gun Match sponsored by Geissele Automatics, August 12th.  It will be 6 stages and all 3 guns will be used.  We may be using slugs, rifle and shotgun slings this match, and we do expect to use most of, if not all, of the 200 yards available on the rifle range.  The match fee will be $30.

The match day schedule is as follows:

7:00 finish set up (help is always appreciated)
8:00 registration begins
8:30 registration ends (anyone arriving after 8:30 is a spectator)
8:45 mandatory match briefing
9:00 shooting begins

To sign up for this match email us at yorksignup@gmail.com with your name, division, and squad requests.  You should receive a confirmation within a day or two.

Don't take too long to sign up.  We do have a maximum number of shooters we will take for each of our matches and we do expect the matches to fill quickly.  Conversely, don't sign up if you don't intend to shoot, and if something comes up and you're not going to make it please let us know as soon as possible.  The Thursday before the match at midnight is the cut off for backing out without penalty.  People who persist in not showing up after signing up will not be invited back.  We want to benefit as many shooters as possible this season.

Egg Shoot August 4th is on

There will be a 22lr Egg Shoot tomorrow at 9:00 am.  Be there by 8:30 to register.  Pre-registration is not necessary this month.

Club Status update

This week’s rain has caused the club grounds to flood, yet again. Not as bad as I have seen, but bad enough for me to ask all who venture forth to see, to be careful. There is debris in the usual places, and wash outs in the usual places. Caretaker Matt and a crew of 7 have band-aided the grounds for now, but more rain is expected in the coming 24-36 hours. 

Be wary of the road to the ranges, it washed out very badly in two places, and while it was patched tonight, I cannot guarantee there will not be craters large enough to swallow a compact car tomorrow. 

The back pits are a disaster.

 

The rain is supposed to subside on Friday. Therefore, we will be having a club work detail on Saturday, 7/28, starting at 8am.  We will be mostly picking up flood debris and carting it to the brush pile. Bring chainsaws, rakes, shovels, boots work gloves and such.  Bring a dry set of cloths for the trip home. We will need a few trailers to cart stuff about. 

We will also be washing down the trout building floor and the rifle range stat shack, and likely pulling clay birds and a thrower from the trap range.

We will meet in the driveway in front of the clubhouse at 8 am.  At noon, we will serve a pizza lunch for all who survive.

IWLA York Chapter Grounds are closed, and FunShoot canceled.

Do to safety issues from this weeks flooding, and the potential for more tomorrow, please stay off the grounds until Saturday.  We have sustained some damage, and only those familiar with their areas should be doing any recovery right now (trout, trap, pistol, B&G).


Needles to say Saturday's FunShoot is cancelled, and being replaced by an all we can get hands on recovery effort. Shovels, rakes, small loaders and any debris cleanup implements of destruction will be needed.

July FunShoot

This Saturday the 28th of July, we will be presenting our monthly FunShoot.

Expect 100-130 or more falling steel targets, in 6-7 stages.
This is a casual, free form shoot. I will present shooters with targets, it is up to the shooter to decide how best to engage them, as long as it is done in a safe manner.
On any stage, you can run any one or combination of two of the following guns; standard pistol caliber handgun, standard pistol caliber carbine or shotgun (7 1/2 lead shot or smaller). You may bring all 3 (or more) to the shoot, and you can change the choice of guns on different stages, but only two guns max per stage.

 Registration is from 8-8:30am, safety brief at 8:45, shooting close to 9am, we should be done by 1pm-ish.

Cost is $20 for adults, $5 for kids under 18.

There will be a setup this Friday afternoon at 3pm. Any help is appreciated.

York is a cold range. Unloaded firearms are carried around the range holstered, boxed, bagged, slung, carted or in a sock. Long guns require a chamber flag, and they will be for sale.

Bring family and friends, we are very new shooter and kid friendly. Spectators are welcome!

Everyone on the range MUST WEAR EYE PROTECTION WITH SIDE SHIELDS. We will be shooting steel, and it creates little flying bits of metal that can hit you on occasion. There will be eye protection for sale.
