January 5th Falling Steel

Assuming the weather is not wretched, and right now the forecast looks peachy, we will have a Falling Steel match next Saturday.  We will use 4 pits, each with it's own plate rack, each at a different distance.  You shoot each rack 4 times and only the best 3 count for score.  We add the times up and that's the match total.  96 rounds required.  Extra shots possible.

For pistol the distances will be 9, 12, 15, and 18 yards.  For PCC the distances will be 12, 18, 24 and 30 yards.  All firearms will start at low ready.  30 second time out.  5 seconds added for each plate left standing.

Pistol divisions will be stock and open.  Open is any handgun with porting or optic sights.  Nothing else matters.   PCC will be anything not a typical handgun.  Centerfires only.  Start time is 9:00 am.  Please be a little early.

You may sign up now at yorksignup@gmail.com.  Be sure to tell me your name, division and who you would like to be sqaudded with.  Entry fee will be $20.

If you'd like to shoot a second division let me know that too. If we don't get 40 different individuals I will allow it.  For and additional entry fee of course.

We'll get back to more normal falling steel matches as the weather improves.  Ones with more steel, more options and even partners.  Our scheduled falling steel matches for this year are March 2nd,  May 4th, July 6th, September 7th, and November 2nd.  The September 7th one will likely be a bigger one with higher entry fees and cash payouts.

Be sure to subscribe to receive all our match announcements by email.  Just put your email address in the little box on the right.

November FunShoot

This Saturday, the 24th of November, we will be hosting out monthly FunShoot.  Expect 5 stages, about 20 targets/stage.

Boilerplate follows:

This is a casual, free form shoot. I will present shooters with targets, it is up to the shooter to decide how best to engage them, as long as it is done in a safe manner.

On any stage, you can run any one or combination of two of the following guns; standard pistol caliber handgun, standard pistol caliber carbine or shotgun (7 1/2 lead shot or smaller). You may bring all 3 (or more) to the shoot, and you can change the choice of guns on different stages, but only two guns max per stage.

There will be a setup this Friday (the 23rd)  afternoon at 3 pm am. Any help is appreciated, it should take less than an hour.

Registration starts around 8:15 am Saturday, safety brief about 8:45, shooting soon thereafter. We should be done by 12-1pm-ish.

Cost is $20 for adults, $5 for kids under 18.

York is a cold range. Unloaded firearms are carried around the range holstered, boxed, bagged, slung, carted or in a sock. Long guns require a chamber flag, and they will be for sale.

Bring family and friends, we are very new shooter and kid friendly. Spectators are welcome!

Everyone on the range MUST WEAR EYE PROTECTION WITH SIDE SHIELDS. We will be shooting steel, and it creates little flying bits of metal that can hit you on occasion. There will be eye protection for sale.

cheers

Steel Challenge

We are postponing the Steel Challenge match scheduled for November 18th.  The question is should we have it this fall at all?  Is there any interest?  We don't have a date in mind, but if you would like to shoot a Steel Challenge match in the next few weeks please comment below.  If there is not enough interest we will just cancel it altogether.

November Single Gun Match

There's still have room.

We will be hosting this month's single Gun Match November 11th.  It will be 5 stages.   We will not use the rifle range.  You will have the option to shoot it with a Limited or Open pistol, Open PCC or Tac or Open shotgun only no multi gun.  If you shoot it with shotgun you will need slugs.

The match day schedule is as follows:

7:00 finish set up (help is always appreciated)8:00 registration begins8:30 registration ends (anyone arriving after 8:30 is a spectator)8:45 mandatory match briefing9:00 shooting begins
To sign up for this match email us at yorksignup@gmail.com with your name, division, and squad requests.  You should receive a confirmation within a day or two.Don't take too long to sign up.  We do have a maximum number of shooters we will take for each of our matches and we do expect the matches to fill quickly.  Conversely, don't sign up if you don't intend to shoot, and if something comes up and you're not going to make it please let us know as soon as possible.  The Thursday before the match at midnight is the cut off for backing out without penalty.  People who persist in not showing up after signing up will not be invited back.  We want to benefit as many shooters as possible this season.

At this time you will not be able to sign up to shoot more than one gun but may be available later in the week depending on registration.

The match fee will be $30.
