Never forget, first and foremost York Izaak Walton #67 is a conservation organization. Sure we have great ranges and run pretty good matches, but they are in addition to, and in part, to support our conservation efforts. Today in sub-freezing weather almost 2 dozen of us (mostly Pistol Committee too by the way) went on a tour of Barshinger Run to see what we are planning for that section of creek. Stream restoration is a very involved and expensive process but it is part of our core mission. When it has been completed the streams not only look more scenic, but provide better habitat for fish and wildlife, and less sediment washes downstream and into the bay.

3 Man 3 Gun announcement and 2015 schedule
This year's Three Man Three gun, or team 3 gun is scheduled for March 8th. We're doing it early this year to get it out of the way before the point series starts in April, so get your guys together and get that check and application in the mail. This match always fills up quickly, because it is crazy fun.
Link to Application
The tentative 2015 schedule has been posted also. The dates are set, but we may switch around the 2 gun and 3 gun combinations (other than June of course). The June Multi-gun Challenge applications will be available around the first of the year.

2015 Points Series at Izaak Walton - Updates in blue font
In 2015 we'll be running a point series. We've never done it before, but we have some good ideas and we're going to give it a try. We invite everyone who shoots our club regularly to join in on the fun.
There is now a facebook page for the series. It is York IWLA Point Series.
Link to Facebook page
To register for the point series you will need to pay a $20 fee. You can pay it at any time, but our stats guy won't start keeping your points until you have paid your registration fee. I suggest you pay it well ahead of time.
The matches that will count towards the point series are April through September. That gives us 6 matches. Your best 5 will count.
You will have to shoot Tactical Optics that entire season if you want to earn points. It's just too confusing to use every combination of the guns we allow you to shoot at York. The vast majority of our shooters shoot Tac Ops anyway.
Points will be awarded each match as follows.
1st Place = 20 points
2nd Place = 19 points
3rd Place = 18 points
and so on down to 20th place which receives only 1 point
Using your best 5 matches you could score a maximum of 100 points if you win 5. That probably won't happen, but who knows. I think you could get in with as few as 20 points total, so a lot of our regulars have a chance to make it to the top 16.
I've done some math, prove me wrong if you can, I could be, but, I figure if you get:
38 points or more you make the top 16
42 points or more you make the top 15
46 points or more you make the top 14
50 points or more you make the top 13
55 points or more you make the top 12
59 points or more you make the top 11
63 points or more you make the top 10
67 points or more you make the top 9
74 points or more you make the top 8
75 points or more you make the top 7
80 points or more you make the top 6
84 points or more you make the top 5
88 points or more you make the top 4
92 points or more you make the top 3
96 points or more you make the top 2
100 points and you are #1 guaranteed
In the case of ties, which are very possible, the shooter with the highest single match placement wins the tie. The second tiebreaker will be second highest single match placement. the third tiebreaker will be coin flip.
Only people in the Point Series count. If someone comes in and wins or whatever they don't matter.
Sometime after we have match results each month we'll post the point updates on this blog.
After the end of the Point Series we will have a head to head shoot off, 3 Gun Nation style, for the top 16 point earners to determine how prizes will be awarded. This will likely occur early in October. We have not scheduled it yet, but we'll be sure to avoid Blue Ridge 3 Gun etc.
Rifle, pistol and shotgun will be used for the shoot-off. Details will be posted in advance to all potential participants.
In the event a shooter(s) can't make the shoot-off we will attempt to bring in the next ranked shooter(s) to fill the lowest seed(s). If any seeds go unfilled the highest ranked shooters may be given first round byes.
All of the registration fees collected will be used for prizes. We're also seeking match, series, and shoot off sponsors and hope to add to the prize table.
The prize table will be designed with very little drop off from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, etc. and we intend to provide prizes all the way down to 16th place.
If you'd like to be a sponsor please comment, and we'll get with you about it. We're not looking for massive donations. This is mostly a fun thing. Bragging rights will mean more than prizes potentially.
The Point Series is now full. Interest was much greater than expected. We can't take any more shooters without sacrificing match quality just to make room for more shooters each month. Payments postmarked by 12/16/14 will be accepted. Anything postmarked afterwards will not. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

November Action Matches
This month's Action Match will be 5 stages, with about 124 rounds minimum almost entirely on falling steel targets (there will be 4 static targets, 120 falling steel, and no paper). 9mm will be the minimum caliber for this match. No 22lr.
Although it is designed primarily as a shotgun/pistol multi-gun match you will be allowed to shoot pistol only, shotgun only, and pistol caliber carbine only. I believe there will be a large contingent of carbine only shooters this match. Kirk and I are shooting carbine and we challenge all comers. Bragging rights are at stake.
The fee will be $25. There will only be one time slot 9:00 am. This match will probably fill very quickly. It is the last match of the year and we are only taking 50 shooters.
For this match if you wish to sign up you may email us at yorksignup@gmail.com with your name, which gun and/or guns you wish to use, your division, and anyone you wish to be squadded with.
You may shoot one of the following options:
A - Shotgun and Pistol multi-gun - divisions include Limited, and Open (as defined by the FNH 2014 rules) - expect about 60 rounds of pistol, 60 rounds of shot, and 4 slugs minimum.
B - Carbine (standard pistol calibers) only - divisions include Optically Sighted or Iron Sighted. Magnification doesn't matter. No mag restrictions in either division. Suppressors are allowed in either division but we recommend shooting supersonic ammo so the timers pick up the shots - expect about 124 rounds minimum. If you're not sure what qualifies as pistol caliber email me.
C - Pistol only - divisions include Open, Limited, L10, Production (10 round mags), Single Stack, and Revolver (as defined by USPSA) - expect about 124 rounds minimum.
D - Shotgun only - for you gluttons for punishment/ those getting ready for Shotgun World Shoot - divisions include Limited and Open (as defined by the FNH 2014 rules, and Modified as in the World Shoot Rules) - expect about 120 rounds of shot and 4 slugs minimum.
Please don't sign up so hurriedly that you forget to check your calendar. Persistent no-shows will be dealt with severely.
You should get a confirmation email within a day or two at most, H-

Results for October Action Match
The results have been calculated since about 3:00 pm today, however for some unknown reason I have been unable to upload them to Practiscore. Tomorrow I meet with my technology adviser who will undoubtedly solve the problem.
Meanwhile, I'll tell you the top 10 finishers in Tac Ops since I know some of them are dying to know.
Buddy Knight
Brian Cashman
Dean DeTurk
Howard Thompson
Bob Schemlz
Kevin Downing
Jody Snyder
Bill Hostler
Joe Padian
Mike Sherman
No doubt there's a couple surprises there. The competition is getting serious here. There is no longer room for any errors.
This match did fill as quickly as I expected. A smart thing to do would be to "follow" this blog. Then whenever a match is announced you'll get an email to your inbox. Only 18 people are following right now.
Next month we'll be shooting shotgun and pistol. We will take a few less shooters next month. Expect slots to this match to be at even more of a premium

It will be 5 stages. The divisions for this option include Open, Limited, L10, Production (10 rounds only), Single Stack, and Revolver. It will require about 130 rounds minimum, and we will allow 22lr.C - You may shoot it as a Carbine-only match. It will be 5 stages. The divisions for this option include Optics, or Irons. September FunShoot Announced
UPDATE!
This FunShoot is now open to handgun caliber ammo. I was not thinking of how deep the .22 ammo shortage still is, so I'll do a quick target change and open it up for all handgun calibers. We will not be shooting the steel challenge steel, but we will still be shooting steel, albeit a bit smaller.....
Next Saturday, the 20th of September, York, or what is left of us not shooting/working/watching FNH at Peacemaker, will be hosting our monthly FunShoot.
This weekends cancellation, due mostly to a lack of interest, has not deterred me! The show will go on with a multi-gun type speed steel match. It will still be twisted into a rimfire/shotgun event, just because it is different. Acceptable guns are .22lr pistols of any kind, .22lr auto loading rifles/carbines of any kind, and shotguns sporting 7 1/2 or smaller shot target loads.
We will do what the others could not. Each of 4 stages will have 15 steel targets to engage, with whatever combination of guns you show up with. You will shoot 2 or 3 strings, based largely on how many folks show up, and the best one for a timed score.
YOU NEED NOT HAVE ALL 3 GUNS TO PLAY! This can be shot with one, two or all three guns, just bring what .22's you gots, and we will have a ball.
A 5th stage will be set aside for some sort of foodstuff, just to keep the FunShoot spirit alive. Yes, Paul, slugs will be allowed on that stage only....
We will be in the back pits only, and signing up at the big shed. $20 per shooter, $5 if you are under 18. There is another event/class going on in the front pits, please do not interfere with them, come straight to the back and park in the woods....hopefully.....

2014 FNH Rules Quiz #2
This self graded quiz is intended for all staff of the 2014 FNH Championships as well as the regular staff and shooters of York Izaak Walton. No only will studying the rules make you a better RO it will help you to be a safer shooter.
Use the rules to help you. Link to rules:http://www.lchico5u.com/FNH3G/Rules.pdf
Do not use the 2013 rules. A lot has changed.
Make the call, and cite the applicable rule for each scenario, then check the comments to see the answers. If you would like more clarification comment and ask.
#1 The shooter mistakenly shoots a piece of steel with a slug where he should have used shot. The distance to the steel was only 11 yards. What is the penalty?
#2 Can a shooter stage ammo?
#3 The shooter has an accidental discharge during a reload. What is the penalty?
#4 The shooter puts his shotgun in the designated long gun bunker, but he does so muzzle up (yeah, this actually happened last year). What is the penalty?
#5 The shooter's unloaded pistol falls from his holster retying his shoelaces while he is on deck. What is the penalty?
#6 The shooter doesn't like the call the RO has made and the CRO confirms. What is his recourse?
#7 The shooter has a 1-4x scope on his rifle for the pit stages, but when he gets up on the hill he decides to unmount the 1-4x and mount and use his pre-zeroed 4-12x. Is this allowed?
#8 The shooter bunkers his loaded rifle in a designated grounding container muzzle down, but the RO upon checking it finds the safety in between "safe" and "fire", and it's not clear whether it is on "safe" or not. What should he do?
Good luck, Howard

August FunShoot!
This coming Saturday, August 23rd, York IWLA presents its monthly FunShoot.
Thanks to the uprising in attendance in the last couple of months, you have forced me to build another real stage. So, hopefully the weather will cooperate, and not bake us too hard, as we engage a hanging steel stage in pit 1, a twist to bullseye in pit 2, 4 modified stages from the last action match and our favorite August stage RED DAWN! Those of you who know this stage will welcome it back, those that don't can probably guess (if you know me well enough). There will be a total of 7 stages, with a target count of 100-125. Round count is entirely up to you, you can shoot them all, or just the easy ones.
I envision the following guns, pistol, shotgun and pistol caliber carbine (.22lr too), in any combination, with a pistol only option. There will be stage descriptions for those in need, and the usual scoring options of points, timed or IDC will be in place.
Setup/registration starting long about 8am, shooting brief by 8:45am shooting as soon as I can get it going.
Fee is $20 for adults, $5 for those under 18.
We require chamber flags for long guns, and we will definitely have them for sale if you need them.
Preregistration is not mandatory, but it is extremely helpful, at yorksignup@gmail.com.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! Our October shoot (Oct 25th) is our annual Halloween costume shoot. It is a lot of fun and silliness for the trick-or-treater in all of us. Please plan on attending in costume if at all possible. With that in mind, we will be forming a squad of Zoot Shooters! and following their protocols. This is similar to cowboy Action shooting, except that is is set in the Roaring 20's-40's, with only period dress and firearms (1950's and earlier) allowed. For more info, goto http://www.zootshooters.com/

1. A shooter engages 8 plates with a shotgun, then to unload fires the last shot in the gun at the area where the plates were, but are no longer. What if any is the penalty?
2. Removed.
3. Removed.
4. What is the penalty if any for distracting another shooter? What if the guy was trying to help?
5. A shooter grounds his rifle in a safe manner on the table he picked it up from instead of the supplied long gun bunker. No one is able to go downrange of it. What is the penalty if any?
6. A shooter has stippled his handgun grips, ground out the area around his shotgun loading port, and milled a dovetail in the rib of his shotgun to insert a rear sight. He has also installed barricade stops on his rifle and installed sling mounts on both his rifle and shotgun. Do any of these modifications violate rule #5.3.1?
7. A shooter draws his handgun, which has magazine inserted and slide forward on an empty chamber at the start, during a course of fire, decides not to use it, does not rack the slide, and reholsters it without dropping the mag first. What is the penalty if any?
8. A shooter sees that a claybird has a grey mark on the edge of a clay that the RO has called an un-hit target. He argues that the mark is obviously caused by shot. What is the correct call?

Results for the August action matches are available.

Sorry for the delay. There were some technical difficulties with the back pit scores. Although they are correct as far as placement, some of them do not have the penalties broken down as such. The final times are correct.
Next month on September 14th, we will be hosting a Blasphemous Steel match which is our version of the Steel Challenge. You can shoot it pretty much like a standard steel challenge, or you can use our twisted method which allows for a two or three gun option. We will likely only run 5 stages with a maximimum of 12 shooters per squad, and this match will fill up very quickly. Expect to see the invite here on this blog on September 7th and follow the instructions carefully.

Back Pit match

Thanks for coming out yesterday, especially those of you who showed up early to help set up, and stayed late to help tear down.

August Action Matches
On Sunday, August 10th we are going to host a 5 stage action match in the back pits, and a 4 stage action match up front at York Izaak Walton. There will be two time slots available for this match. We will finish setting up at 7:30am and we appreciate your help. Registration for the morning time slot will be from 8:00 until 9:00. Mandatory match briefing will be at 9:15 and we will start shooting at 9:30. Registration for the afternoon time slot will be from 12:00 until 12:30. Mandatory match briefing will be at 12:45 and we will start shooting at 1:00pm. You will be able to shoot the front pits match in the AM and the back pits match in the PM, or vice versa. You may not shoot the same match twice.
yorksignup@gmail.com is the email you should use to sign up for this match. It does not work as a link with some computers. You may have to cut and paste it, or type it in manually.
There will be 3 options for the back pits action match:
1. You may shoot this match with Pistol only. A minimum of 135 rounds will be required. The cost will be $20. To sign up for this option email us at yorksignup@gmail.com and tell us your name, "Pistol only", AM or PM, division, and anyone you would like to be squadded with.
Pistol Divisions:
- Open
- Limited
- Production (10 round mag limit)
- L10
- Single Stack
- Revolver.
2. You may shoot this 5 stage match with a shotgun and a pistol as a multigun match. Minimums of 65 of shot (7.5 or 8 only please) and 70 pistol rounds will be required. The cost will be $20 for the back pits multi-gun match. To sign up for this option email us at yorksignup@gmail.com and tell us your name, "Shotgun/pistol multigun", AM or PM, division, and anyone you would like to be squadded with.
Multi-gun Divisions:
- Limited (There is no Tac Ops when there is no rifle involved)
- Open
3.You may shoot this match with Carbine only. A minimum of 135 rounds will be required. For the purposes of this match Carbine is pistol caliber only. 9mm, 40, 45, or 22lr. We will be shooting steel at 10 yards so 223/5.56 will not work. The cost will be $20. To sign up for this option email us at yorksignup@gmail.com and tell us your name, "Carbine only", AM or PM, division, and anyone you would like to be squadded with.
Carbine Only Divisions
- SCCAR - scoped (either magnified or non) & no more than 30 rounds after start signal
- ISCAR - iron sights (no glass) & no more than 30 rounds after start signal
- OPENCAR - more than one optic, and/or more than 30 rounds after start signal
- SCCAR - scoped (either magnified or non) & no more than 30 rounds after start signal
- ISCAR - iron sights (no glass) & no more than 30 rounds after start signal
- OPENCAR - more than one optic, and/or more than 30 rounds after start signal
Will require a rifle and a shotgun. You will not be able to shoot it with just a pistol because there will be targets that are just too far to shoot with a pistol. You also can't shoot with just a rifle because of the close range steel that must be engaged with a pistol. Rifle must be 223 or larger and you may not use 62 gr. penetrator, green tip, AP, API , or bi-metal bullets, steel cased ammo, or anything a magnet is attracted to including Hornady Steel Match. If you're not sure please ask before the match starts. If you are found on any of ranges with contraband ammo the penalty is a Match DQ. No exceptions. Round counts are not set yet but expect somewhere in the neighborhood of a minimum of 50 shot (7.5 or 8 only please), maybe a few slugs, and 70 or so rifle rounds to be required. The fee for the front pit match will be $20. To sign up for this option email us at yorksignup@gmail.com and tell us your name, "rifle/shotgun multigun", AM or PM, division, and anyone you would like to be squadded with.
Rifle/Shotgun Divisons
- TO - Tactical Scoped
- Lim - No magnification
- Open
None of these matches will be for prizes. All will be scored time plus and we will use the 2014 FNH rules with added pistol divisions for Production, Single Stack, L10 and Revolver.
If you are shooting both the front pits match, and back pits match, and don't really care what order you do it in you don't have to put any time slots down. It is actually beneficial to us for squadding if you don't.
This match will fill quickly. Do not hesitate to get signed up. You should receive a confirmation email from us within a day or two. If for some reason you have signed up but will not be able to make it to the match please let us know. Persistent no-shows will not be invited to shoot in the future.

The July FunShoot is here!
This coming Saturday, July 26th, York IWLA presents its monthly FunShoot.
It is that time of year, when I will again recycle and twist 4 of the awesome stages from the Multigun Challange, along with our old friends Bulls-eye, choose your own clays, and some kind of food and paint cans to blow up. There will be a total of 7-8 stages, with a target count of 100-125. Round count is entirely up to you.

There are also a couple of scores that look fishy to me. Let me know if any of your times look wrong and what you remember them to be. There's no money at stake but...
Apparently, there is no way to change divisions after the match. I can input any divisions I want before the match, but afterwards the only choices I have are IDPA divisions. I guess from now on we will have to be sure what division we're shooting when we first sign up.
The following people switched their divisions and it will not be reflected in the results:
Bernie Rhee SCCAR
Brennan Keil Lim
Dave Albanese OpenCP
Gary Swope OpenCP
Jim Fort TOCP
Nazar Skydov Lim
Paige Keil Lim
Paul Nowotarski OpenCP
Richard Knight Lim
Still it was a fun day. The after match canoeing/kayaking thing was a lot of fun. We'll be doing it again sometime.

FunShoot, June 28th - With a Special Shotgun Side Match!!!
You are not gonna want to miss this!
This his coming Saturday, June 28th, York IWLA presents its monthly FunShoot, along with a seperate Shotgun only Side Match being held on our trap range.
First the FunShoot: I will recycle 4 of the awesome stages from the Multigun Challange, along with our old friends Bulls-eye, choose your own clays, and some kind of food and paint cans to blow up. There will be a total of 7-8 stages, with a target count of 100-125. Round count is entirely up to you.
Now, the shotgun Match: This will be a 20 or so target, 60 second max run. Score will simply be time to complete the course, or 60 seconds plus penalties for un-kilt targets. Targets will be flying birds, static birds, steel, steel launched birds and whatever those devious fellows come up with. Don't be surprised if you see a star.
High capacity shotguns will be necessary. Don't have one? No problem, we will have loaners. Don't have ammo? No problem, we will be selling ammo. Don't have shell caddies? No problem, we will have loaners, and instructors. So, there is no excuse, come on out and play. The fun starts at high noon, and will continue until we run out of shooters.
Registration is not necessary, just show up and shoot.
The cost of admission for the side match is the purchase of one $10 raffle ticket, to benefit the IWLA Trout folks. So for $10, you get to shoot a really cool action shotgun stage, and get the chance of winning cash, each day for the month of July, based on the daily lottery. How cool is that!
And yes, you can shoot this after you finish the FunShoot, or shoot this if you are not shooting the FunShoot, they are totally separate things.

I figured the bracket winners by using the order of match finish and them comparing to the spreadsheet I had the chosen classes on. A few people shot above their chosen classes so they were out. If someone wants to check my math I'd be happy to send them the spreadsheet. Email me, or comment, if you do.

More clarifications
You are not allowed to use 6 shot or anything larger at Izaak Walton. It is a club rule. You won't need it anyway. No buck shot will be needed or allowed either.
We will add the stage times up to determine a winner. We will not be factoring stages.
We will be posting scores to practiscore at the conclusion of the match.
We will mail checks to the winners.

Multi-gun challenge update
Things are looking great for next weekend. We have about 120 shooters now, and my predicted payouts for Tac Ops look very promising. We will be paying out $6000 in cash prizes.
Please note the following changes from the published stage drawings/clarifications:
Stage 2 - There will only be 12 clays. 4 groups of 3.
- The pistol must be grounded safely, not completely empty.
Stage 3 - All rifle steel will be considered "long range" regardless of distance. 20 second un-hit target penalties will apply. The penalty for un-hit target that was not engaged is 30 seconds.
Stage 7 - There will only be 12 4"x4" squares.
- We will be using water bottles instead of the drink bottles.
On stages 6 and 7 the rifles will not have to be grounded completely empty.
The penalty on stages 1 and 2 the rifles will still be grounded completely empty, but the penalty for grounding them safely , and not completely empty will be one procedural rather than a match DQ.
I'm looking forward to the match, and hope you are too.

May Action Match
I just wanted to remind everyone that our May action match will be on the 18th, not our regularly scheduled 2nd Sunday due to a conflict with Mother's Day. We all love our wives and mothers and need to spend time with them.
The match invite for the May 18th match should be out in the evening sometime on Mother's Day so check back for details and sign up information.

April FunShoot
This month we will be shooting a week early, so the the rifle guys can have the ranges for the PA State Bench Rest Championships. That really is a spectacle to behold, if you get the chance, go check it out.
Now for what is important to me......
This coming Saturday, April the 19th, York IWLA presents its monthly FunShoot. We will be getting back to our norm, and hosting 8 stages. I will recycle 4 of the awesome stages from the team 3 gun shoot today, along with our old friends Bulls-eye, choose your own clays and some kind of food to blow up.
Please have chamber flags for long guns, we will probably not have any for sale. Be creative, I myself used a piece of cardboard today.
Preregistration is not mandatory, but it is extremely helpful, at yorksignup@gmail.com.

Basic Multi-gun class
We will be hosting a Basic Multi-gun class at York Izaak Walton starting April 24th. It will consist of 3 Thursday evening sessions, a Saturday, and a York match. The intended audience of this class is shooters who are on the cusp of starting into multi-gun but need that little push, or boost in confidence to get started. We will be primarily focused on basic skills needed to be successful in multi-gun, and the equipment needed. We will devote significant attention to drills that will help you improve over the long run. Mike Stephens, Kirk McWilliams, and Howard Thompson will be the primary instructors. The fee will be $200 and the money will be donated to Izaak Walton.
The class was announced to the York Pistol Committee first and it is just about full. We have 2 spots left and it starts in less than 3 weeks so don't delay if you are interested.
For more information email Mike at mdstephens@skcoinc.com

Too much rain
Kevin D sent me these pictures of the club today
This is coming down the driveway past the clubhouse. That little strip of green in front of the hood is the edge of the driveway. So the driveway headed back to the ranges is pretty well covered.
Here's the parking lot behind the rifle benches. So it's not under the pavilions yet. I talked to Gary. He said there is no serious damage at this point. The traps are not under water, and it doesn't look like it's on the ranges yet. We might get lucky if the rain lets up soon.
If there would be a recovery attempt of any kind I'll be in touch. Wish for the best, and when I ask you to keep the flooding in mind remember this, and I've seen it at least 3 feet deeper than this one.

Deadline for 3M3G teams rapidly approaching
I will not accept any applications for teams that are postmarked in April. That gives you tomorrow, Friday, and Monday to get your in the mail if you haven't done it yet.
We have a nice turnout right now and I want to start finalizing the details.
Hope you're already in. It looks like a lot of fun.

FunShoot Mystery Solved
Here is the plan for Saturday:
Pit 1: Enough steel to shoot Man-on-Man or just hose it yourself. Pistol/shotgun/pistol caliber carbine.
Pit 2: PPC, Bulleseye and a "scatter shoot". Pistol / Carbine / shotgun slug
And.....
Pit 3: The rifle range: a Shotgun/rifle stage! Yes, this is a first for the FunShoot. I envision shotgun shot to 30 yards and slugs out to 100 yards. Rifle from 50 to 200 yards. This stage can be shot shotgun only or rifle only if that is what you want.
Stage 1 can be shot with any combination of Pistol/shotgun/pistol caliber carbine you wish.
Stage 2 is no shot, but you can use any combination of slugs, pistol and pistol caliber carbine or rifle
Stage 3 is shotgun and/or rifle only, no pistol.
Definitions;
Carbine is a pistol caliber carbine, be it 9mm, .40,. 45 or .22 rimfire
Rifle is a center fire, "high power" rifle in .223, .308, 7.62 etc.
Whatever you bring, we will work it out.

March FunShoot
This month will be interesting, to be sure. The back pits are still covered in ice, and I don't think the predicted temps for this week will help us out much. That means we will be limited to the front pits. I have an idea or two, and if the planets align, we will do something a little unusual. I can't give enough definite detail at this time, so be prepared, our "mystery shoot" will involve some combination of all 3 guns, with the usual caveats for pistol only.
Expect a fee of $15, start time of 10am.
Please signup at yorksignup@gmail.com.
Thanks

Mifflin County Sportsman 3 gun
On March 29th Mifflin county Sportsman is having a 3 gun match. For more info see link:
Blockshoot reminder
The IWLA Blockshoot is on for this Sunday, March 9th, 1pm, after being postponed last month. There are still a number of spaces left for the main shoot, a 64 shooter (maximum) elimination shootoff for an 870 pump shotgun, with a losers bracket for some cash! Cost for the main event will be $25.
There will be side shoots for cash, even if you don't want to play for the 870 and food available for purchase. Cost of the side shoots will vary.
The weather is supposed to smile on us, so come on out and play, or just stop by to say howdy

June Multi-gun Payouts
I have done some preliminary figuring on our payouts for the June Multi-gun Tac Ops division. This is definitely a match you want to put on your schedule. Besides being a 7 stage match that you can shoot in one day, and get a shirt, and lunch included for only $100, we are doing some serious cash payouts.
Based on 105 shooters (a realistic, but not maximum number of shooters)
100% First $750
100% Second $500
100% Third $250
90% First $600
90% Second $400
90% Third $200
80% First $500
80% Second $300
80% Third $150
70% First $400
70% Second $200
70% Third $100
60% First $300
60% Second $150
60% Third $75
50% First $200
50% Second $100
50% Third $50
These numbers are preliminary and real numbers will be based on 50% of entries collected. Not 50% after expenses! This is pretty serious cash. If you look at a lot of the majors in the country you have to place pretty well to get something off the prize table you could sell for $500 or $600.
The "choose your own class" system worked very well last year, and it allowed us to get some prize money down the list, rather than a standard top down payout or some dumb luck system. The trick is to know what you're capable of and perform to that level. Aim a little high. If you shoot above your chosen bracket you're out.
Expect some great shooters to be there. Some were last year and now that we've bumped the payouts up I expect to see some more travel for this match. We will post the list of shooters at registration and you will be able to change your class up until it's your time to shoot.

June Multi-gun application is now available
Here is the link to our application for our big multi-gun match in June. We expect it to fill up so don't delay getting your application and fee in.
http://www.yorkiwla.org/id38.html
http://www.yorkiwla.org/id38.html
A couple questions that have come up already:
1. Can we shoot in a single day? Yes, either Saturday or Sunday.
2. Should we enclose a check with our entry fee if we plan on working the match? Yes, everyone pays full price up front, even if they plan on working.
3. What if we want to help? We'd love to have your help. The plan is that we will all work one day and shoot the other. Twp staff per stage if possible. When you shoot you shouldn't have to worry about the match administration as well. We will provide lunch to you on the day you shoot and reimburse you $60 for a full day of help. I'll be in touch with your working and shooting schedule well ahead of time.
4. Will squad requests be honored? As much as possible. Write them on your application. If I need you to shoot on another day I'll contact you and we'll work it out. We can't all shoot on the same day.
5. Will Greg be shooting? Yes, and Dean said he will be there, and probably some other great shooters too. Classify yourselves accordingly. But remember to aim high.
6. How much money goes into the prize pool? I'm figuring about $50 out of the $100 entry fee will go towards the prizes. The choose your own class system worked very well last year so this year we're going to do some really nice payouts. Every class will get paid very nicely. New for this year: No classes in Limited and Open. This divisions will pay top down. There just aren't enough people in them for the class system to work.
7. What if I don't own all three guns? Then you better buy or borrow some. You will need a centerfire rifle (223 or better), shotgun (20 ga or better) and handgun (9mm or better) that meet the rule requirements.
8. What rules will we use? The same ones used at the 2014 FNH Championship. There are a few changes from last year, but nothing major. If you need the rules email me and I'll send you the document.
9. Will the stages be published ahead of time? That is our intent. Not publishing stages ahead of time is lazy and gives the insiders an unfair advantage. They're not done yet. I'll email them out to registered competitors and publish them on our blog www.yorkpistol.blogspot.com when they are complete. I'm thinking probably late April.
